SUR-RON Electric Camera Tracking Bike

We worked closely with the client on this bike, and together went through a great deal of design, research and development. Creating a prototype we used for testing before coming up with the final design.

The brief was to create a nimble and fully capable tracking vehicle that could mount a camera on a ‘Flowcine - Black Arm’ 3 axis damping system. Originally designed to be used for shots on the recent Oscar winning WWI film ‘1917’. The Sur-Ron donor bike was chosen by the client for its compact size but great performance and brought to us.
The biggest issue we faced was making fixing points that wouldn’t upset the geometry and ride of the bike but remain strong enough to support the cantilevered camera rig. Then we had to completely upgrade the suspension to account for added weight. Improved braking was also necessary and we gave the whole bike a higher riding position.
The finished result is a camera tracking vehicle like no other in the UK film industry, that’s small enough to fit down pedestrian pathways but can travel of speeds in excess of 75kph.
