1993 DR650 SE donor was given a ground up rebuild. Modified frame with integrated tail light, suspension overhaul and the tank from a 1972 TS185. Sat on new Excell 18” rear & 19” front rims with Heidenau rubber. When we got the bike the engine needed a lot of work & now has new valves, valve guides, carburettor, ECU. We also created a new wiring loom integrating the Motogadget Blue digital controller unit with Bluetooth connectivity & keyless control using your smartphone.

We removed the air box and replaced with a small pod filter, jetting the carb for the increased fuel has given the bike plenty of grunt when grabbing the throttle. The shock was replaced with a Honda XR600 unit & the original forks got a set of progressive springs. This added to the new riding position and dual sport tyres means the bikes handing on tarmac has been greatly improved.

Designed for the city but could also handle a weekend hack through some green lanes or a trip in the country, this Urban Explorer is a perfect all rounder.
